Wikidata alternative[labot pirmkodu]

Hi! There is now a property for Sports Reference ID in Wikidata. I have imported the IDs used in this template from all Wikipedias, so it can now be used on Wikipedias by using a module. I have made a module in the Norwegian (Bokmål) Wikipedia that can be copied here and be used with some modification – if you would like me to help set it up, I'd be more than happy to help (just let me know). The module will use the ID from Wikidata preferentially, but if there is no ID on Wikidata it can take an argument from the local wiki, and will categorise pages that are missing the ID in Wikidata. The reason I set it up that way is that I discovered there are many erroneous IDs used on Wikipedias, and it is much simpler to fix in Wikidata, especially since we have this nifty report of errors. One more thing, the Wikidata property does not support links for countries (and country-specific Olympic articles), but that can easily be circumvented in the template itself. Let me know if you'd like me to help set it up here as well! Jon Harald Søby (diskusija) 23:25, 29 augustā, 2014 (EEST)

@Edgars2007 (again, hehe), as template creator, do you have any comments? :-) Jon Harald Søby (diskusija) 18:52, 3 septembrī, 2014 (EEST)
When I responded here, I knew that I will get ping here, too :) Well, here I have some comments. As you can see, we are using a little bit different system (we have to copy everything after http://www.sports-reference.com/). So if the module could be changed a little bit (firstly, there would be check for property from Wikidata, and then (if there wasn't such) we could use the old system), then why not. As I'm not a Lua expert (currently, I have knowledge to copy->paste from other Wikipedia, translate what we need and comment out what we don't need), you could do the magic. --FRK (diskusija) 19:08, 3 septembrī, 2014 (EEST)
Yes, that should be trivial to fix. In nowiki the articles use the form "url=xx/firstname-lastname-1.html", while Wikidata doesn't, so I had to make a fix for that, and modifying that fix to work here is simple. I'll start a module shortly. Jon Harald Søby (diskusija) 23:16, 3 septembrī, 2014 (EEST)
@Edgars2007, I have created the module now: Modulis:SportsReference. It needs translation on lines 15–17, 39 and 45. Lines 39 and 45 are optional maintenance categories, but I would suggest you create them, because they are very useful for knowing what's missing on Wikidata. Once that is done, the module can be used by replacing the text in this template with this:
{{#invoke:SportsReference|link|{{{1|}}}}} {{en ikona}}
You should also consider translating the template documentation from en:Template:Sports-reference/doc. Sorry that this turned into so much work, hopefully it is not too much of a hassle. :-) Jon Harald Søby (diskusija) 03:24, 4 septembrī, 2014 (EEST)
@Jon Harald Søby: Ok, thanks, it looks fine. I'll hopefully do it today. BTW, We have equivalent for Språkikon template. It is {{en ikona}} without parameters. Maybe you could also implement it in the module? --FRK (diskusija) 08:56, 4 septembrī, 2014 (EEST)
Congrats! I think you are the first user (after me) who makes an edit to module namespace :) --FRK (diskusija) 09:00, 4 septembrī, 2014 (EEST)
