Le 2 août 1914, Guillaume Apollinaire et le caricaturiste André Rouveyre, qui après un reportage à Deauville pour la revue Comoedia, viennent de rentrer à Paris à l'annonce de la mobilisation, "se rendent dans une boutique où l’on enregistre de brefs films sur le principe des cabines photos automatique" [1].
