Čeština: "I šel jednou lesy těmi statečný lovec, jehož jména nikdo si už nepamatuje, s penězi do Svojanova. Šel opatrně a bedlivě se rozhlížel kolem. Když přišel do hustého podrostu, rázem se zastavil. Z nedaleka zaslechl praskot suchých větví a šelesť pádných krůčejů.

Netrvalo dlouho, a z houštiny se vyvalil medvěd. Lovec pevně stisknul svůj oštěp.Stál jako socha, ani brvou nepohnul. Medvěd vyceniv zuby zamručel zuřivě. Po té postaviv se na zadní tlapy divoce na lovce obořil se.

Avšak zkušený lovec obratně uskočil a zvířeti zasadil smrtelnou ránu oštěpem. Medvěd zařval a prudce vrhnul se na lovce, aby ho silnými tlapami svými sevřel a k zemi porazil. Lovec obratně se otočil a vrazil prudce kopí svoje medvědovi do prsou. Hrozný dravec chroptaje klesl k zemi, několikrát ještě sebou hodil, ale brzo bylo po něm. Statečný lovec zhluboka si oddychnuv, hleděl chvíli na svou kořist a pak šel dál."
Deutsch: Und einmal ging ein tapferer Jäger durch den Wald zu Svojanov. Er ging vorsichtig und sah sich sorgfältig um. Es dauerte nicht lange bis ein Bär aus dem Dickicht kam. Der Jäger hielt seinen Speer fest in der Hand. Der Bär entblößte wütend die Zähne und bäumte sich vor dem Jäger auf. Der Jäger sprang jedoch geschickt zur Seite und fügte dem Tier einen weiteren tödlichen Stoß mit dem Speer zu. Der Bär brüllte und warf sich auf den Jäger, um ihn mit seinen starken Pranken zu packen und auf den Boden zu werfen. Der Jäger drehte sich geschickt um und stieß seinen Speer ein weiteres Mal in die Brust des Bären. Dieser fiel zu Boden und warf sich noch ein paar Mal auf ihn, aber bald war es vorbei. Der tapfere Jäger seufzte tief, starrte einen Moment auf seine Beute und setzte seinen Weg fort. - Geschichte des Wappens, laut Seite der Stadtseite
