Objekta vēsture
Deutsch: Die Fichte ist redendes Bild für den Ortsnamen. Der von Herzog Ernst ausgestellte Original-Wappenbrief von 1437, der wohl eine Miniaturdarstellung bot, ist nicht erhalten. Der Entwurf des Wappenbriefs hat keine Abbildung. Das Wappen mit der bewurzelten Fichte im Halbrundschild ist erst aus Siegelabdrucken seit 1514, dann in farbigen Wiedergaben seit 1565 bekannt. Im 18. Jahrhundert wurde die Fichte auf einen Rasenboden gestellt (Wening 1721), Otto Hupp fügte die goldenen Zapfen hinzu. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde das Wappen gelegentlich mit einem von Weiß und Blau schräg geteiltem oder gerautetem Schildhaupt gezeigt, möglicherweise um sich von dem fast identischen Wappen von Oberviechtach (Oberpfalz) abzuheben. Die grüne Fichte wurde früher auch in ein rotes, weißes oder blaues Feld gestellt. Viechtach wurde schon um 1300 als Markt bezeichnet und 1953 zur Stadt erhoben.
