"Einārs Repše" or "Einars Repše"?[labot pirmkodu]
The English Wikipedia currently lists this Latvian politician under Einārs Repše. The Latvian edition however uses Einars Repše, without the macron. Google shows both spellings used on .lv sites. Which one is correct? (And why the disagreement?)

Article request: Interstate Aviation Committee[labot pirmkodu]
I would like to request a Latvian stub on the en:Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC).
Now Vikipēdija:Tulkošanas vadlīnijas says:
- "Begging other users to translate for you is also strongly discouraged as this is likely to result in creating of stub on topic that is of no interest to target audience of Latvian Wikipedia, as such will never be improved and would never have been created, if it wasn't for the request."
But I have a case for this particular topic. Latvia used to be an observer state of the IAC, so there should be a sufficient interest from people who speak the Latvian language. Thank you, WhisperToMe 22:20, 24 oktobrī, 2011 (UTC)
Could someone explain the difference between those two categories? Or is the other one just a duplicate? I tried Google Translate but it translates them both as "Category:Finnish musicians". 220.127.116.11 16:50, 10 janvārī, 2013 (UTC)
- Kategorija:Somu mūziķi - Finninsh musicians (those of Finn origin).
- Kategorija:Somijas mūziķi - Musicians from Finland (includes those of Swedish/Russian/Estonian/etc. origin).
Wikimedia Polska scholarships for Wikimania 2013[labot pirmkodu]
Hello! On behalf of Wikimedia Polska (WMPL), Wikimedia's local chapter in Poland, I would like to invite those active editors of this project, who wish to take part in Wikimania 2013 in Hongkong (August 7-11), to apply for WMPL's scholarship. It is WMPL's annual tradition that we fund scholarships for Wikimania not only for Polish editors, but also for a group of Wikimedians from other former Eastern Bloc states. The scholarship covers air travel, accomodation, insurance and conference fee. If you would like to learn more or ask any questions, please visit this site. Hope to see you there! Ten years of Wikipedia in Asturian language[labot pirmkodu]
Excuse me for not speaking Latvian yet.
Oviedo, September 8, 2014
Next September 12 and 13, the Asturian Wikipedia community of users will celebrate with the support of Wikimedia España Chapter the tenth anniversary of Uiquipedia, the free encyclopedia in Asturian. The events will take place in Auditorio Príncipe Felipe (Plaza La Gesta, Oviedo).
The first article in Asturian was «Zazaki», a minority language spoken in Turkey. That first edit was in July 26, 2004. Ten years later, more than 800 000 edits have been made on almost 20 000 articles, and numbers are growing every day with the work of tens of volunteers. And it doesn’t stop there: other Wikimedia projects in Asturian have developed, such as Wikicionary, Wikisource and Wikiquote. Managed by Wikimedia Foundation, all of them make part of a global movement that started in 2001 when Wikipedia started with the goal of delivering freely all human knowledge.
To commemorate this date, Uiquipedia and Wikimedia España are carrying out two days of celebration events so that the projects in Asturian are better known. Literature, poetry music and traditions in Asturian will be present. It’s free and everybody is welcome. In addition, Wikimedia España will have its annual General Assembly in Oviedo.
Monuments of Spain Challenge[labot pirmkodu]
Excuse me for not talking Latvian yet.
Wikimedia España invites you to join the Monuments of Spain Challenge. And what’s that? It’s a contest. You have to edit, translate or expand articles about the Spanish monuments and you will be granted points. So you’re not just writing about wonderful buildings: you can get prizes!
The time of the contest will include all October and any information you may need is right here.
Join in and good luck!
PS: We would be grateful if you could translate this note into Latvian.
B25es on behalf of Wikimedia España.
