Sorry, but the theory using 1 700 years BC when speaking about Baltic coming is popular in polish nationalistic books, but not at scientific Lithuania and Latvia. There are the too main theories about Balts formation: 1. They appeared near the Baltic sea 3 000 BC carrying the corded ware culture (in Latvia this theory is supported by Loze) 2. The Balts lives near the Baltic sea from iceland melting -X thousand BC. (based by h.dr.A.Girininkas and archaegenetics data)

Please add that Riga and Mintauja, Liepaja all the time were important centers for Lithuania culture.
Kr.
Tas nav gluži tā, cienījamais. Visplašāk pieņemts galvot, ka balti šeit parādījušies pirms 4000 g., t.i. ap 2000 g. pirms Kristus, jeb 1000 g. vēlāk nekā indoeiropieši sākuši migrēt uz Eiropu. A. Girininka teorija par baltu apmešanos šajās zemēs kopš X tūkstošgades pirms Kr. ir tikai viņa paša interpretācija, jo pati ide. pirmvalodas sadalīšanās tiek datēta ap 4. tūkstošgadi pirms Kr.
