Thanks again for organizing Wikipedia Asian Month. There are only 4 days before it starts. If you haven't yet signed your language in WAM 2017, You can sign-up here. Below we have provided some notices and guidelines for organizing.

Page Setup

• Our Sample page is ready to be translated. There are only a few adjustments if you had this page for 2016 already.
  • Article Requirement is 4
  • Article criteria are 3k bytes and 300 words. NO 2k bytes for smaller Wikipedia.
  • According to the tool's limit, IP users can not participate. Please encourage them to register an account.

Localization

• Please localize this template and used on sign up page. I will update the template once the tool is ready to be used.
• You may localize this page, but you can also just put a link towards the meta page. m:Wikipedia Asian Month/QA

Strategy

• You may have to invite some of your Wikipedia friends or active Wikipedians from your home WIKI to help you organize.
• You may have to send some invitation to last year participants, active Wikipedians, and Wikipedians who has a special interest.
• Central Notice will be used. You may use the Site Notice if you don't see the CN is deployed.

Reward

• We will keep sending postcards (new design) this year, and as an organizer, you will receive an additional postcard as well.
• We will have many special prizes provided by Wikimedia Affiliates and others. Take a look at here. Let me know if your organization also would like to offer a similar thing.
• We will send the Ambassador a regular paper copy of the certificate through the basic mail.

Wikipedia Asian Month 2017: engage with audience

Dear WAM organizer,

I’m Erick, the coordinator of WAM 2017. Thanks for your effort and help at m:Wikipedia Asian Month 2017! Here are some more information about organizational matter of the event at a national level.

You are receiving this message because you have signed up as a organizer or in the list.

Timeline

The event has started and will end in the November 30th 23:59 (UTC). However, we are late for some matter. So we need your help:

• Invite previous participants and your community members to join. We have a template you can use.
• Translate Central Notice for your community (more instruction below) as well as sending a notice in village pump. Go public!
• Become the jury member in a campaign on Fountain which is an amazing tool for you to supervise participants’ articles. If you don’t have the campaign set up, please contact us! And put a link to your community’s campaign page for participants’ navigation.
• Organize a off-site editathon event. A coffee bar, internet and laptops. Though it’s optional. If you want to do that, please contact me.

In the following days, you should answer the questions from your community and supervise the submissions. Hope you have fun!

Prepare Central Notice

Central Notice shows a banner on the top of pages in your wiki project along the event timeframe. We will use this to engage with audience. Steps:

1. Translate, change logo and link to event page. Find your project's Central Notice here. For example, we can change the banner for Chinese Wikipedia here.
2. When you mark the 4 items (translation) as done. I'll enable the central notice in your language for this month.

Have some interesting articles in your mind or from community? Drop us a line so that we can post that here to exchange the information to other communities.

Special Prize

You can find some special prizes in Event Partner page. They can be claimed by:

• Write an article about Indigenous people in Taiwan at Wikipedia Asian Month (supported by Wikimedia Taiwan).
• Write articles on monuments of Bhubaneswar (supported by Bhubaneswar Heritage Edit-a-thon).

The participants who joins for the special prize need to also report their conribution in the speical page. The link is shown in the Event Partner page.

Here are some number I would like to share with you

Total submitted: 7429 articles; 694 users

Here are what will come after the end of WAM

• Make sure you judge all articles before December 12th, and participants who can improve their contribution (not submit) before December 10th.
• Once you finish the judging, please update this page after December 12th
• There will be three round of address collection scheduled: December 15th, December 20th, and December 25th.
• Please report the local Wikipedia Asian Ambassador (who has most accepted articles) on this page, if the 2nd participants have more than 30 accepted articles, you will have two ambassadors.
• There will be a progress page for the postcards.

Among the Latin-script Wikipedias 13 use "USB-C" and 3 use USB Type-C. Of the three one does so due to the vandalism (lv) and only one(!, tr) uses "USB Type-C" without any interference by the vandal. In frwiki the vandal sabotaged a rename-proposal by inserting fake information and later asking for page deletion.

• Here are some recent updates and clarification of rules for you, and as always, let me know if you have any idea, thought or question.
  • Additional souvenirs (e.g. postcard) will be sent to Ambassadors and active organizers.
  • A participant's article count is combined on all language Wikipedias they have contributed to
  • Only Wikipedia Asian Month on Wikipedia or Wikivoyage projects count (no WikiQuote, etc.)
  • The global top 3 article count will only be eligible on Wikipedias where the WAM article requirement is at least 3,000 bytes and 300 words.
  • If your community accepts an extension for articles, you should set up a page and allow participants to submit their contributions there.
  • In case of redirection not allowed submitting in Fountain tool, a workaround is to delete it, copy and submit again. Or a submission page can be used too.
  • Please make sure enforce the rules, such as proper references, notability, and length.
  • International organizers will double check the top 3 users' accepted articles, so if your articles are not fulfilling the rules, they might be disqualified. We don't want it happened so please don't let us make such a decision.

Invitation to Organize Wiki Loves Love 2019

Wiki Loves Love (WLL) is an International photography competition of Wikimedia Commons to subject love testimonials happening in the month of February 2019.

The primary goal of the competition is to document love testimonials through human cultural diversity such as monuments, ceremonies, snapshot of tender gesture, and miscellaneous objects used as symbol of love; to illustrate articles in the worldwide free encyclopedia Wikipedia, and other Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) projects. February is around the corner and Wiki Loves Love team invites you to organize and promote WLL19 in your country and join hands with us to celebrate love and document it on Wikimedia Commons. The theme of 2019 is Festivals, ceremonies and celebrations of love.

To organize Wiki Loves Love in your region, sign up at WLL Organizers page. You can also simply support and spread love by helping us translate the commons page in your local language which is open for translation.

The contest starts runs from 1-28 February 2019. Hi Papuass, I'm working with User:EpochFail (@halfak on irc) on a research study to look into how mw:ORES is working out on wikis where it has been enabled. I was hoping to talk a little about what the kind of work you do on Latvian Wikipedia and about how the ORES edit filters and classifiers have been working out. Some stop names should not be translated (definitely Dziļais, Pelēks Rindās laukuma) while others can be translated (like Riteņbraukšanas trase, Filharmonija). Files on Commons etc.

Hi! Thank you for fixing {{NowCommons}}. I think that Kategorija:Attēli, kurus var izdzēst and Kategorija:Db-commons are no longer needed. Perhaps you could check?

I like to check files and I noticed that there are some files like Attēls:Bbp4.jpg that have no license and many files do not have a source or a {{information}}. I see that some of the files that have a {{NowCommons}} are no longer on Commons. If you are not sure all info have been transferred correctly it is better to skip them so the info can be transferred. That greatly reduces the risk file gets deleted on Commons.

Some files have incomplete information on Commons. It is easy to fix with the tools in the {{NowCommons}}. It does ofcourse take a little time. But it is nice to have the information on Commons (especially if author and uploader name is not the same). You can see an example here. If you notice that some files are missing information you can skip them. I will they to check the first files in Kategorija:Fails ir Vikikrātuvē ar tādu pašu nosaukumu so I will fix if i notice any problems. You can also fix it yourself. Checking files

Hi! I see that you are active in checking files. That is great! I hope to do edits like that with my bot when I have some time. So if you have any ideas on what to fix let me know. --MGA73 (diskusija) 2020. gada 7. jūlijs, plkst. 14.20 (EEST)

I have now fixed many of the files in Kategorija:Files uploaded by User:Anonīms. If you see any files there that are ready to move to Commons you are very welcome to move them.

I like to use FileImporter. But it seems that it does not like "Kategorija" so I had to change to "Category". In future I will change the name while I do other edits.

Some of the files can't be moved because of {{FoP-Latvia}}. But there are some files that are moved to Commons anyway. I have been thinking that instead of having them marked with {{NowCommons}} perhaps they should be marked with a template like en:Template:KeepLocal. I have changed {{NowCommons}} so now it is possible to add a reason to the template NOT to delete the local file. See Attēls:Krisjanis Barons grave.JPG as an example. The benefit of that is that it warns local admins not to delete the file and it also removes the file from the category of files that should be deleted. It is partly in English or Google translated. About monuments I asked on Commons and got a reply on what could be accepted. The answer is that stones are not copyrighted so it depends on how much work have been made on them. Deleting files that are also on Commons

Hi! I have made redirects on Commons where the local name on lv.wiki is not the same as Commons. So if you delete the local file then the file should still be visible in the articles here on lv.wikipedia. --MGA73 (diskusija) 2020. gada 25. jūlijs, plkst. 18.58 (EEST)

There are a few exceptions where the file names are not allowed on Commons. One of them is File:Doles sala 19.-20. gs. mijā (''Insel Dahlen'').jpg because of the ''. That will sometimes mess up the wiki pages. Perhaps you could move that file so it gets the same file name as on Commons? Here are the basic guidance and regulations for organizers. Please remember to:

1. use Fountain tool (you can find the usage guidance easily on meta page), or else you and your participants’ will not be able to receive the prize from WAM team.
2. Add your language projects and organizer list to the meta page before October 29th, 2020.
3. Inform your community members WAM 2020 is coming soon!!!
4. If you want WAM team to share your event information on Facebook / twitter, or you want to share your WAM experience/ achievements on our blog, feel free to send an email to info@asianmonth.wiki or PM us via facebook.

If you want to hold a thematic event that is related to WAM, a.k.a. WAM sub-contest. The process is the same as the language one.

3. Our team has created a meta page so that everyone tracking the progress and the delivery status.

Neesmu ļoti prasmīgs Vikipēdijas lietotājs (pagaidām), taču labprāt apgūtu, kur un kas un kā, jo ir interese veidot kvalitatīvus rakstus ar atsaucēm utt. Vecākajam attēlam noskaidroju autoru. Tas ir uzņemts 1980. gada 24. jūlijā un to uzņēmis Jurijs Somovs "RIA Novosti" uzdevumā. Diemžēl nezināšu, zem kuras licences šis skaitītos, varbūt varat man palīdzēt. Ja tas neskaitas zem nevienas, kuru būtu atļauts publicēt Vikipēdijā, tad dzēsīsim, jā. Par otro attēlu, kur Vītauts ir jau vecāks - tas ir no ģimenes fotoalbuma. Neesmu simtprocentīgi drošs, kurš no ģimenes locekļiem to uzņēmis, taču var nedēļas laikā noskaidrot. Jebkurā gadījumā ģimene to atļauj publicēt, varētu pielikt brīvo licenci. Vai es pareizi saprotu, ka lai to sekmīgi izdarītu, man ir jādodas uz Attēls:VitautsGalinauskas1.jpeg lapu un jārediģē tās pirmkods un tajā apakšā jāievieto teksts: "[[:Veidne:CC-BY-SA-3.0]]"?

Kas notiek ar latviešu Wikipēdiju?! Pilns ar kļūdām un murgiem visādiem. Piemērs, Sabīne Bukša, latviešu vieglatlēte, esot dzimusi Valmierā, bet pati Sintija saka, ka Ogres rajona Ķeipenē. Varbūt vajadzētu pieiet nopietnāk šim pasākumam, jo lecīgu nezinātāju administratoru šeit ir daudz un kļūdainas informācijas arī... —Šo komentāru pievienoja Letticus7777 (diskusija • devums).

@Letticus7777:: Par visām kļūdām atbildību neuzņemos :) Vikipēdijas princips ir tāds, ka kļūdas izlabot var ikviens. Administratoru (tas nav apmaksāts amats) pieākumos ir tikai pieskatīt, lai tiek ievēroti pašu pieņemtie (un no lielākām Vikipēdijāma mantotie) noteikumi. Žurnāls 9 vīri, novembris, Sintija atbild uz jautājumu par dzimšanas vietu un brīnās, ka pēc Wiki datiem esot dzimusi Valmierā. Bet, jāatzīst, latviešu Wiki līmeņus ir tomēr graujošs. Jo lecīgi pasūtīt visi māk, lecīgi neļaut labot brutālas un katastrofālas kļūdas arī māk, bet uzturēt kaut cik normālu līmenī nemāk gan. Varbūt vajag aicināt zinošus ļaudis palīgā, tajos pašos soctīklos vai citādi. Patiesība nedaudz neērti jau paliek mo latviešu Wikipēdijas, tāds provinciālisms dveš un augstprātīga nezināšana...Piemēram, atrast kādu padziļinātu zinātnisku rakstu nebūs īsti iespējams, bet visādu jokainu un kļūdainu aprakstu būs daudz, piem, visiem labi zināmais gadījums par Raudives politiskajām "simpātijām" nacismam. Tas laikam arī ir latviešu Wiki līmenītis. Aiciniet talkā zinošus cilvēkus, studentus, akadēmisko personālu,utt. Caur soctīkliem vai caur paziņām aiciniet zinošos, lai sagatavo par viņu profesionālo nozari kādus pamata rakstus, piem, lai rakstu par Raudivi gatavo kāds filozofs vai filozofijas students, kurš māk atšķirt un ieraudzīt lietu būtību. Labdien! Vēlamies uzzināt – kādu iemeslu dēļ ticis izdzēsts Vikpēdijā ievieitotais raksts par Latvijas uzņēmumu SIA HAGBERG?

Raksts tika veidots identiski saturiski līdzvērtīgs citu Latvijas uzņēmumu informatīvajiem rakstiem – iekļauta informācija, balstoties uz piemēra, kā tika veidots raksts par uzņēmumu Latvijas Finieris, ar šo rakstu nav bijušas nekādas problēmas. Rakstā ir iekļauti fakti par uzņēmumu – vēsture, darbības mērķi, pakalpojuma veidi, attīstības virzieni.

Labdien, @Hagberg apsaimniekosana, rakstu neizdzēsu, bet šobrīd apskatot, saturs vairāk atbilda mājaslapai vai ierakstam uzņēmumu katalogā. Enciklopēdijai uzņēmuma mērķi un nākotnes plāni nav būtiskākā informācija, šeit ir vajadzīgi "sausi" fakti, vēstures sadaļa. Komentēšu kā savu personisko viedokli (jo pats šīs lapas redaktēšanā neesmu iesaistīts): tas raksts tika atjaunots kā dalībnieka lapas apakšraksts, lai viņu jūs pie sevis sataisītu enciklopēdiskākā stilā, bez reklāmas stila frāzēm "Vairāk nekā 10 gadu darbības laikā HAGBERG kļuvis par vienu no vadošajiem...", un tad varētu ielikt atpakaļ kā pilntiesīgu rakstu,- tad viņš arī visur parādīsies.
